SANDRA R. GOMES, PH.D., BCBA-D

Sandra R. Gomes, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is a Doctoral-Level Board Certified Behavior Analyst who earned her doctorate degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Caldwell University. Dr. Gomes is an Assistant Director at Somerset Hills Learning Institute and has been working with individuals with autism at the institute for nearly 15 years. Dr. Gomes has served as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Applied Behavior Analysis at Caldwell University. She has presented at national and international conferences on various topics including scripts and script-fading procedures, applied behavior analysis, and teaching joint attending skills to individuals with autism.

Her thesis entitled: Teaching a Generalized Repertoire of Joint Attention Skills to Children with Autism, won the ABAI Autism SIG Student Research Award in 2011. Her book review, Effective Practices for Children with Autism: Education and Behavioral Support Interventions That Work, was featured in the newsletter of the New Jersey Association for Behavior Analysis in which she is currently serving as President. Her dissertation is titled Establishing a Generalized Repertoire of Initiating Joint Attending with Children with Autism and her research interests include joint attending, social skills, food refusal, stimulus control, and sleep interventions.
